The Entrepreneur Space is a partnership between the Queens Economic Development Corporation and Mi kitchen es su kitchen ®. Funded in part through the New York City Economic Development Corporation, this innovative incubator provides a home to emerging businesses and organizations seeking offices, a commercial kitchen and/or classroom/meeting space. In addition to space, clients can receive business counseling, technical assistance and networking opportunities - all at a reasonable cost.

Tours of the Entrepreneur Space include viewing the fully furnished offices and workstations are available by appointment.  Please call 718 392-0025 to schedule. Office and workstations are available on a short term basis for up to three years. You will also visit the commercial kitchen which is open 24/7 on a shift basis.

Recipe For Success: Five Sessions on How to Start Your Food Business and Be Ready to Capture the Sales During the Holiday Season

When: Starts Monday, July 30th, 2012; every Monday for 5-weeks.

This 5-session workshop course is designed to help entrepreneurs launch and grow a successful food-based business. The course syllabus is as follows:

July 30th - Setting up the Business: An overview of the legal issues, the insurance requirements, the health and safety licenses, and all the basics of getting started. Will also take a tour of the facility.

August 6th - The 4P's - Pricing, Producing, Packaging, & Product: You have to know your prices, the actual costs and what you can charge. Include in the pricing is the type of packaging and how to actually produce your product. Bring your calculator! YOU MUST BRING A RECIPE THAT HAS THE RAW INGREDIENT COSTS INCLUDED

August 13th - Pitching your Product to the right Customer: If you don't sell your product then are you a business? Do you have your sound-bites ready? Do you know who will buy your product? This information will affect the look of your product. This is where you start to focus some of the talking points for your website and printed material.

August 20th - Targeted Marketing: Where will you sell? Identifying your market and formulating a plan. Practicing your speech...then getting out and sell!

August 27th- Showcase your Products: For Graduation you will be showcasing your delicious products. Bring samples of your product for all to taste; bring your business cards/ brochures. Graduation certificates will be presented.

Keynote speaker will be someone from the food industry and we will be inviting our sponsors as well as others. You are welcome to bring family and friends to celebrate your accomplishments.


In each of the sessions there will be hands-on exercises and contacts so that you can easily walk the path to successful entrepreneurship.
