A nursing home is a private residential facility that cares for aged or chronically ill patients.
The following is required in order to operate a Nursing Care Facility:
- Employee Identification Number
- Food Protection Certificate $114 (you must register for a course and pass an examination to become certified. You may take the course online or in person)
- Recycling and Waste Removal (list of private carters)
- Applicable Business Certificate based on your business’s legal structure
- Unemployment Insurance
- Bottle Bill Requirements
- Food Service Establishment Permit $280
- Employee Disability Coverage
- Air Facility Registration
- Workers’ Compensation Insurance or proof of exemption
- If you are going to serve Halal or Kosher food, you will need a separate registration for each.
Before you become licensed or certified, you will need:
- Proof of Training/Experience
- Fingerprints
- Formal Education information
- Personal Background information
In order to provide Nursing Care you will need to have:
- Nursing Home Administrator License ($40) Requirements
- Nursing Home Aide Certification
- You must complete a New York State approved residential health care facility nurse aide training program
- You must also pass a New York State authorized clinical skills competency examination and a written or oral competency examination
The following requires a licensed professional for installation:
- Gas Authorization
- Grease Interceptor
- Range Hoods (licensed plumber)
- Application for Approval of Backflow Prevention devices (must be submitted by a professional engineer or a registered architect to NYC Department of Environmental Protection DEP)
