Get Certified in QuickBooks

When: June 5, 2014
Where: The Entrepreneur Space, 36-46 37th Street, Long Island City, NY 11101
Time: 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Cost: Free

This 3-day class (6/5, 6/12, and 6/19) QuickBooks course aims to provide the technical know-how for people looking to learn how to use this program effectively.

Please note this class is for QuickBooks Online. While it has the same functions as the desktop version, the interface is very different. This class will not teach you how to use the desktop version of QuickBooks.

In this class you will:

Work hands-on with QuickBooks Online Plus. In order to take this class, please bring a laptop after downloading the trial version of QuickBooks Online Plus, which can be found here. There are also a very limited number of laptops available that will be given out on a first come, first served basis.

Please note that this class fills up extremely quickly. If it is full, please add your name to the waiting list.

Why take a class on Quickbooks?

- Because your receipts fade and storage of your data is difficult without it. (You can link transactions and make things much easier if you are ever audited).
- Quickbooks helps you create analytic reports you can use to make better business decisions and keep your bookkeeping tight.
- Because MS Excel is not made for bookkeeping! You lose out on power information created by QB reports.
- Save money come tax time. Save between 5 hours/month of manual entry and over $4,200 a year come tax time by using QuickBooks.*
- Manual entries and bank statement importation can create lost transactions and no reconciliation.

*Based on normal retainer fee paid for bookkeeping.

This class is part of the NYC Small Business Tech Coalition, funded by the NYCSBS and Citi Community Development.

This is a free workshop on disaster financial recovery and emergency preparedness for local small businesses in the NY Metro Area. The presentation will give you the tools needed to create and implement a Business Continuity Plan for your small business.  There will focus on identifying threats to your business, understanding insurance options and communicating the plan with your employees.

About the Speaker

Stuart Pena is a Small Business Program Manager with HOPE Coalition America, a division of Operation HOPE. Operation HOPE, Inc. (HOPE) is America's leading financial literacy and economic empowerment nonprofit organization. Founded immediately following the 1992 Rodney King riots in South Los Angeles, HOPE now operates in 70 U.S. communities, South Africa and the Middle East. After the tragedies of September 11, 2001, HOPE identified a need for Financial Emergency Preparedness that reduces recovery time, and HOPE Coalition America (HCA) was created to address that need. HCA is a national partner with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Citizen Corps, and the American Red Cross and is an active member of National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD). Through a collaboration of professionals from the banking, financial services and insurance industries, along with educators, government officials and community leaders, HCA provides financial recovery services and disaster preparedness guidance to individuals and small businesses before and after man-made or natural disasters. Our three step process provides a holistic approach to Disaster Recovery and Preparedness. (RECOVER, NAVIGATE, PREPARE)
