A 10-Weeks entrepreneurial course that lays the ground work for building and funding a business that succeeds

Since its inception, the EAP initiatives has helped entrepreneurs create new businesses and has provided in-depth assistance to minorities, women and dislocated workers interested in starting a business.

 In this course, you will:

  • Develop a professional business plan

  • Direct access to $1,500 in seed capitol and/or expansion capitol

  • Automatic entry in Queens StartUp! Business Plan Competition - 1st Prize $15,000

  • Receive one-to-one business counseling for developing your idea

  • Learn from experienced entrepreneurs, consultants, lawyers, and accountants

  • Network with other entrepreneurs

  • Find resources to finance and market your business

The course begins in September, 2009, Rolling Admissions is currently underway.

All classes meet twice a week from 6:00pm - 9pm. The course content was developed by the Queens Economic Development Corporation and funded by the Empire State Development Corporation.

Course fee is $425 with $50 refunded to all participants who successfully complete the course and a business plan. Payment plans area available.

Women's Incubator Program

 

Today's women desire connections with other women and they also want to help each other prosper and grow. The Women's Business Center at QEDC has put together an opportunity that will do just that.

 

We are launching a  women's incubator this Fall where women entrepreneurs can connect with other women entrepreneurs and collectively work in the process of building a business while learning key strategies and sharing lessons learned. Incubator participants will also have access to the NEW Community Workspace opening in August, Stay tuned for information on the opening Reception.

TRAININGS ARE CONDUCTED ON THE 4TH FLOOR. The entrance to the building is in the middle of the block on Queens Blvd. (between Union Turnpike and 82nd Avenue).  Remember to carry identification as you will have to present it upon entering our building

GreenSoul Shoes is uniquely positioned as a 100% recycled, waste reducing shoe company focused on providing shoes for eco-conscious consumers. GSS works with Third World artisans to hand-make shoes from truck tires; and for every pair sold will give away a free pair to needy children in the same community. 

 

Cut & Sewn - Awarded $4, 000

Gray Sevilla

Cut & Sewn is an online custom apparel company that provides customers the means to create and sell graphic apparel via their website – www.cutandsewn.com.  Working with designers, artists, musicians and anyone who has an idea and want to wear it, they are fulfilling their mission of providing creators with quality products at low cost and without minimums.

 

The EAP course was extremely helpful to Four Eyes Edit. The feedback from the instructor and the QEDC staff, specifically Franklin Mora and Jamila Payne, was instrumential in keeping us focused and enabling us to reach our goal of completing our business plan. "
