JUDGES

The Queens Economic Development Corporation (QEDC) and the Queens Public Library (QPL) will publicize the names and associations of all judges who participate in the Queens StartUP! Business Plan Competition. Judges have been asked to remove themselves from judging a plan if they do have a real conflict of interest, such as a pre-existing relationship with a potential competitor. The QEDC and QPL Library will not, however, provide contact information for individual judges or mentors, unless the judge specifically requests an opportunity to contact the participants who submitted the plan.

REVIEW PROCESS

A panel of Business Professionals will review the initial applications, due on December 2, 2006. To be considered for the competition, applicants will be required to attend three of four educational classes. The business plans must be post-marked or submitted by Monday, April 2, 2007. These plans will be reviewed based on the soundness of each business concept. Finalists will be notified and required to meet individually with the panel of judges in order to respond to questions about their plan. The list of questions will be provided in advance. The date, time and location of this meeting will be revealed to you should your plan be chosen. The winner and two runners up will be announced in June, 2007 at our Entrepreneur Expo.
