Competition Overview

The Queens Economic Development Corp in partnership with the Queens Public Library is proud to announce the 2nd Annual Queens StartUp! Business Plan Competition for Queens-based startup entrepreneurs with cash prizes totaling $28,750. (See Prize Info). The Queens StartUp! Business Plan Competition gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to strengthen their business knowledge, learn about business trends and gain insights about starting and growing a business, as well as an introduction to the vast resources at the Queens Borough Public Library.

Who Can Enter?

If you are 18 years of age or older live in Queens, are a legal resident or US citizen, and wish to start a business in Queens, you are eligible. 'StartUP!" is a competition to help applicants start and grow a business.

How can I apply?

All applicants must attend one (1) orientation session being held at the Queens Library. The orientation will give you all the details about applying to StartUP! Applications to the competition will only be given out at the orientation sessions listed below. Applications to the competition are due December 3rd. An alternative way to enter the competition is via taking The Queens Economic Development Corp Entrepreneurial Assistance Program Class. Deadline to register for this class is September 12, 2007. When do Orientation Sessions take place?

Orientations start you off by giving you the basics of the competition as well as provide you with an application to the contest. The only way to enter the contest is by attending an orientation session where you will receive an application.
